This policy explains how Drift Solutions UG (haftungsbeschränkt) handles personal data when you use driftlegal.ai, chat with our AI assistant, create an account, upload information, request a lawyer match, book a consultation, or contact support.
Who is responsible for your data?
Drift Solutions UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Lohmühlenstraße 65, 12435 Berlin, Germany, is responsible for the personal data used to operate Drift. You can contact us at [email protected].
Independent lawyers are separately responsible for the personal data they use to provide legal advice or representation.
What we collect
Depending on how you use Drift, we may collect:
your name, contact details, account information, and preferred language;
the immigration questions, facts, goals, and dates you choose to share;
documents you upload;
AI conversations, draft summaries, corrections, and feedback;
lawyer preferences, matching information, bookings, and appointment details;
payment status, transaction references, invoices, cancellations, and refunds; and
device, browser, IP address, security, and service-use information.
Payment providers normally process full payment-card details. Drift does not need those details to support a booking.
Why we use your data
We use personal data to provide the service you request, including accounts, general information, case summaries, lawyer matching, booking, payment support, security, and customer support.
Our legal bases may include performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, pursuing legitimate interests such as service security, and your consent where required. Immigration information can include sensitive personal data. We only process it where an appropriate legal condition applies to the specific use.
How AI is used
Drift uses AI to understand questions, retrieve approved information, organise customer-provided facts, prepare draft summaries, and support lawyer suggestions. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or outdated. You can correct your information and ask for human help.
Who receives your information?
We share information only where it is needed to operate the service. Recipients may include:
an independent lawyer you choose or are matched with;
providers that support hosting, communications, booking, and payments;
professional advisers; and
public authorities where the law requires disclosure.
Before booking, we limit sharing to information needed for matching, availability, and conflict checks. After booking, the lawyer may receive the summary you approved and relevant documents.
International transfers
If personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we use an appropriate legal transfer mechanism and additional safeguards where required.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, legal obligations, security, or legal claims. We then delete or anonymise it under our retention rules.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive your personal data, or to object to how it is used. You can also withdraw consent for future processing.
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. You may also complain to the competent data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our handling of personal data changes materially. The date at the top shows the latest version.
